Back again with another Ableton Rack.

Today is a cool one, recently I did a workshop for Study Group about Lofi Hip Hop. I’ve made an Ableton template project and a few racks. Figured I’ll share the coolest one here.

It’s a collection of a bunch of effects aimed at deteriorating the sound of drums to a point where it sounds directly out of the latest Lofi Hip Hop tune. The main approach was filtering, EQing, Distorting and Compressing.

Macros

Tiny Room – Diffuse and smear the sound. Put it in a tiny space.

Lo-Fi Level – Amount of Low-Frequency Damping

Retune – Dedicated Frequency Shifter

Toit – Removing Sustain from the sound

Clean Mud – Amount of EQ reduction to Remove cluttering frequencies

Open – Post Exciter

Stereo Madness – Experimental but will make it super wide

Boost – Extra nastiness

Installation

1. Double click on the downloaded file to open it up in Ableton Live

2. Click on the Save button at the top right corner of the device to save to your User Library

**You need Ableton Suite 10.1.9 or above
