Creative Effects Overview

In this session, we dive into the art of sound manipulation with Ableton’s built-in effects. You’ll learn how to turn ordinary sounds into expressive, evolving textures using creative processing chains and performance techniques that blur the line between composition and sound design and playing live.

We’ll cover:

• How to Creative Effects – Explore unconventional workflows to transform simple sounds into complex, moving layers.
• Micro Looping – Capture and reshape micro-fragments of sound in real time for rhythmic or granular textures.
• Tape Emulations – Add warmth, wobble, and character with analog-style tape tricks.
• Auto Stutters – Create rhythmic motion using modulation, automation, and audio slicing.
• Hidden Vocoders – Uncover unexpected uses for Live’s Vocoder and blend it into any sound source.
• Live Harmonizer – Build instant harmonies and layered effects with pitch-shifting and resampling.
• Modulation Techniques – Use LFOs, envelopes, and side-chaining creatively for movement and depth.
• Creative Feedback Routings - Create feedback textures and soundscapes with Insert and Send Feedback routings using custom max for live devices.
• Momentary vs. Toggle – Learn performance mapping strategies to make effects expressive and playable.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a fresh toolbox of creative effect tricks to push your sound design and performance beyond the ordinary.

Using the Beat Repeat with 3 LFO randomizers we are able to create and auto-drum fill machine that works great on drum breaks, percussion and other rhythmic and melodic material.

 

Auto-Shift Performer

Live 12.1 now puts real-time pitch correction within reach for anyone working with vocals. Select a scale, or define your own, to keep every note in tune with your track. Play and make harmonies from any monophonic signal using Auto Shift’s MIDI sidechain. Add vibrato, and modulate your sound using MPE or the device’s LFO.

This rack provides a solid vocal sound for the studio and stage with 0ms latency!

Baduda Filters is a collection of 8 Smart Filters each one with it’s own tone and color. Designed for live performance.

 

Drums Lofier

Originally from the Lofi Hip Hop workshop. It’s a collection of effects aimed at deteriorating the sound of drums to a point where it sounds directly out of the latest Lofi Hip Hop tune. The main effects used were filtering, EQing, Distorting and Compressing.

 

Magic Glitch 2

An audio effect rack to create randomized accompaniment glitches great for any melodic and harmonic source material. This rack is using the Pitch Hack from the free Creative Extensions pack.

 

Stutter Gate

An audio effect rack first introduced in the Stutter House workshop. Great on pads, chords, leads, vocal beds and more!

 

Break Bus Driver Rack

An exclusive Audio Effect Rack you can use on all your breakbeats tracks and/or Drum groups.

This rack combines saturations, compression, short reverbs, rhythmic delays and transient shaping.

This rack will make your drums sounds fatter and fuller.

Macros:

Drive – Waveshaping distortion from the Drum Buss

Crunch – Mid/High Distortion

GAINNN – Controls the makeup gain of the Glue Compressor before the last stage of Soft and Hard Clipping

Saturate – Analog Drive before final clipping

Room Space – Drums Plate reverb

Groove Echo – Syncopated 1/4 notes for added groove

Tilt Filter – Tilt EQ to adjust the balance of the highs and lows

One of Yeuda’s most remarkable qualities is his exceptional knowledge and speed, combined with his unparalleled ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and engaging manner.
