In this session we'll explore the creative side of Delay & Reverbs.

• How to Delay & Reverb: Master the fundamentals of Ableton's time-based effects to shape depth and atmosphere in your mixes.
• Insert vs. Send Effects: Learn when to apply effects directly vs. routing them on Return tracks for optimal flexibility.
• Dub FX: Explore the signature “dub” sound and create rhythmic, evolving echoes.
• Creating a 3D Environment: Use spatial processing to craft immersive, multidimensional soundscapes and sync your pre-delays and decay times for more transparent sound.
• Foreground vs. Background: Strategically place elements front-and-center or tucked away for balance and interest.
• Using Delays as Reverbs: How to use delays as space effects.
• Buffer Delay: Experiment with realtime pitch-shifting for modern, cutting-edge textures.
• Glitch Delay: Inject digital stutters and glitch elements for dynamic, futuristic effects.
• Custom Feedback Systems: Learn how to create custom feedback systems with unique effect chains with Ableton's Return Tracks
• Convolution Sound Design: Harness real-world impulse responses to add authentic ambiance or twisted sonic character (IR Libraries Included)

 

Side Brain's Hybrid Reverb Preset Pack

 

 

A collection of 10 presets ranging from classic verbs, specialized verbs, shimmers, prism tape freezer and irregular delays.

 

Magic Glitch

 

Using the incredible Pitchloop89 from Robert Henke (one of Ableton's founders) this rack is capable of creating unexpected beautiful pitched glitches usually associated with expensive guitar pedals.

There are two versions one to be used as an insert effect and one as a send effect.

Macros

Long/Short – Pre-Distortion gain, Main knob to drive the rack.

Crusher – Gentle Overdrive with adjustable center frequency.

Mod FX – Controls the center frequency of the color overdrive.

Space – Waveshaping drive

 

Shuffle Delay

 

 

Custom audio effect rack using 2 parallel delay lines side chained to each other with another unsynced delay and the Shaper effect to create a shuffled delay. A feature we don't have built-in Ableton Live.

Yeuda Ben-Atar, a world renowned Ableton Certified Trainer, hails from Los Angeles, California. Originally from Israel, Yeuda’s passion for music led him to the United States, where he discovered his true calling with Ableton Live in 2007, embarking on a journey of mastery.

He approaches Ableton in a unique way; producing and performing with video game controllers under the moniker Side Brain.

One of Yeuda’s most remarkable qualities is his exceptional knowledge and speed, combined with his unparalleled ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and engaging manner.
