In this video we see that once we use volume automations on the track fader it basically take away our control from that element and by doing so we are loosing control over our main mixer.
To overcome this you can use the Utility Audio Effect which has a dedicated Gain knob. As we can see in the video the utility only goes down to -35DB which in some cases won’t give us complete silence. To solve this you can open up an empty Audio Effect Rack and create an empty chain. Then use the Chain volume for all your volume automation needs.
