Better Side Chain

Since Ableton Live 9, the Compressor is a new reprogrammed effect and quite different from Live 8 Compressor.

A little-known problem is that the new compressor in Live 9 can’t operate fast enough with extreme Side Chain effects.

When you take Live’s 9 Compressor and push it to the limits you might start hearing clicks and pops. In Live’s 9 Compressor we have 3 modes. Peak, RMS, and Expand.

In Live’s 8 compressor we have three different modes FF1, FF2, and FB. The first Feed Forward mode (FF1) is the fastest mode and can handle heavy side chain settings with ease.

Users who switched from Ableton Live 8 to 9 but still kept 8 installs on their computer can access Live’s 8 Library.

But for the people who only joined the fun in version 9 here is a free download of the Compressor effect from Ableton Live 8.

Installation

1. Double click on the file

2. Click the Save button on the top right corner of the Device

*Remember, do not hit the Upgrade button on the compressor, and If you do by mistake don’t overwrite the preset cause you will simply have to download it again.
