If you’re using Ableton Suite 9 you can download for free 3 Live Packs that gives you multi-sampled session drums.
These packs are great if you are looking for a real drum kit sound. They are multi-sampled instruments meaning that each drum was recorded multiple times in different velocities to allow for the most accurate reproduction of real world drums.
The sound of the Session Drums Studio Live Pack is decent (although might be a bit low in volume out of the box) and can work for producers/songwriters who are looking for that realistic drum kit sound with quick results.
I love the sound of real drums but for my production purposes I need some heavier s@#t.
So, I’ve built two Audio Effect Racks to help me achieve a bigger, fatter sound by just placing them on the track. Plug-and-Play type of rack if you’d like.
Session Drums Booster
A simple rack that saturates and compress the drums and by doing so it boosts the volume and color the sound.
This rack will be great on any type of drum but not only. Try it on bass, pads, lead sounds, and fx. Anything that needs boosting, uses this bastard.
It’s also very low on CPU so feel free to use it on as many tracks as you’d like.
Session Drums Killer
More complex rack. This will significantly boost the volume of the sound. Color, fatten, distort and clip the hack out of the drums for some really nasty sounding drums.
If you want to get that raw heavy drum sound, This is the rack for you.
