In this session, we dive into the world of Chill Electronica inspired by Flawed Mangoes and Tomcbumpz, exploring the delicate balance of atmospheric textures, hypnotic arpeggios, and smooth harmonic movement. This workshop focuses on the subtle yet powerful production techniques that define the genre—giving your tracks a warm, immersive feel with deep musicality and rich sonic layers. From lush chord extensions to ambient glitching, you’ll learn how to craft a sound that’s dreamy, relaxing and engaging.

What You’ll Learn

How to Chill Electronica: Breaking down the essential elements that create a deep, atmospheric, chill synth track.

Extreme Gentle Layering: Using soft, evolving textures with multiple instruments weaved into each other to create depth with intentional clutter.

Major Chord Extensions: Expanding simple progressions into lush, dreamy harmonies that breathe.

Delay/Echo Techniques: Creating depth and space using manipulated rhythmic delay processing.

Lofi Warble: Adding subtle pitch modulation and imperfections for warmth and nostalgia.

Arp Techniques: Crafting mesmerizing arpeggios and sequenced that carry the groove through the mix and enhance movement.

Ambient Noise Textures: Incorporating field recordings, vinyl crackle, and soft noise to add organic character.

Ambient Glitching: Using micro-edits, resampling, and subtle stutters to create sparkly textures.

Ableton Project from Class

Binary FX

A set of on/off effects to be used with Binary Randomization (on/off randomization). In this session, we use Ableton's Expression Control but there other methods for binary randomization as shows in this Youtube Tutorial.

Magic Glitch

Based on the PitchLoop89, this rack randomizes the freeze, position, bandwidth, reverse, and short parameters to add an unexpected glitchy layer to anything you give it. Great for guitars and synths!

Beefy master

Using the free LiveCrusher (Camel Crusher Clone) with Ableton's built-in Roar and Limiter to create a beefy master output for a fat mixdown.

Yeuda Ben-Atar, a world renowned Ableton Certified Trainer, hails from Los Angeles, California. Originally from Israel, Yeuda’s passion for music led him to the United States, where he discovered his true calling with Ableton Live in 2007, embarking on a journey of mastery.

He approaches Ableton in a unique way; producing and performing with video game controllers under the moniker Side Brain.

One of Yeuda’s most remarkable qualities is his exceptional knowledge and speed, combined with his unparalleled ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and engaging manner.
